Keep Your Head Down and Fry Eggs

I had a boss many years ago that taught me some very valuable lessons about how the world works. One of those lessons came when I was asked to analyze a difficult situation making a recommendation that would effected everyone in the company. It took me over a month with many long days and weekends but I finally finished it. My boss called me into his office and I laid out my findings explaining in detail all of the reasoning behind it and trying desperately to justify what I was recommending. After an hour of this with my boss barely saying a word he politely thanked me for my work and escorted me to the door. Desperate to know if he would act on my recommendations and did I think it would work and how I can follow through with what I recommended I asked him "What should I do next about all this?"

He looked at me smiling and said "Keep your head down and fry eggs!" then shut the door on me.

At first I had no idea what that meant. My boss followed through with my recommendation but I was never again involved with this project nor was I ever clued into what that saying meant. Over time I came to understand it's meaning that everyone has a station in any organization. We all have jobs to do, tasks to complete and deadlines to meet. Although your job may not solve all the problems in your organization it does add to overall outcomes.

Case in point: If you are a fry cook at a five star restaurant you take your direction from the Head Chef. You may from time to time suggest new entrees or new menu items to the Chef but at the end of the day you know your station in the organization. You are the fry cook and even if you want to become the Head Chef for now your job is to do YOUR job the best you can so "Keep your head down and fry eggs!"

The reason I've bored you with this little story is that we ALL have a station in our little precious metal community. Some of us are in research, some in education, some in investing, some in uncovering conspiracies and some are in market rigging. Although all are separate functions all are connected to the whole.

I can't figure out the entirety of what is going on in the precious metals market as I am just playing my part by doing the research and trying to uncover the conspiracies.

Otherwise Manning my Station....
